If you've been thinking that pop culture has felt very Star Wars lately, it's not your imagination. This past weekend, LucasFilm and Disney hosted the annual Star Wars celebration in California, ushering in a galaxy's worth of news along with it.
Frankly, after learning more about both The Mandalorian Season Three and the first season of Ahsoka, we're still catching up. So for today's purposes, we're covering the little dude who was apparently the talk of the town at the Star Wars event: Grogu, once known as Baby Yoda. In particular, what IGN managed to pull from Jon Favreau and Dave Feloni about Grogu's future. The outlet smartly pointed out to the two Star Wars masterminds that since Yoda's species can live up to at least 900 years, then Grogu could be the key to the deep future of the franchise. "There have been thoughts," Favreau said. "I don't know that it's a fully-formed plan, but we definitely have discussed that very thing."
Interesting! You can let your imagination run wild on the thought of Grogu entertaining future generations of Star Wars fans, maybe even mentoring a Luke Skywalker type someday. Though it's certainly compelling that Favreau admits that the conversation about Grogu's long-term future has been discussed. Elsewhere on the Grogu beat, Pedro Pascal—who plays Din Djarin in The Mandalorian—spoke to Vanity Fair about the first time he laid eyes on the little green guy.
"In one corner, there appeared the illustration of what clearly looked like a baby version of Yoda, and my eye went immediately to it," Pascal said. "I didn’t understand whether it was the actual character or not, because I wasn't quick enough to do the math—the Star Wars math. I just saw the creature, and my heart melted, and I understood. I was like, ‘You guys know people are going to lose their minds when they see that?'"
Sounds like it was love at first sight. Anyway. We've dropped a clip of Grogu's Jedi training montage below. Watch it if you want to make your day a little bit better.
