Air fryers have become popular appliances as they are a great way to quickly cook foods without using excessive oil.

However, air fryers need to be cleaned after every use to remove bacteria and to stop grease and food debris from accumulating.

Cleaning air fryers can be difficult as they often contain fiddly components and can't easily be submerged in the sink.

One person who was struggling to clean her air fryer was Sharon Darlington. She posted on the Facebook group, 'Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips' asking for help:

She asked: "What is the best way of cleaning air fryer drawers?"

The post was inundated with responses but using a dishwasher tablet was the most suggested method.

Annemarie Turnbull said: "Boiling water, washing up liquid and a dishwasher tablet. Leave for 20 minutes, rinse and dry. Perfect every time."

Elizabeth Rose commented: "Haven’t got a dishwasher. Soak mine in a bowl of hot water with a dishwasher tablet."

Deb Oneill replied: "Steep in hot water, and a dishwasher tablet comes up like new."

Dishwasher tablets contain enzymes, surfactants, bleach and polymers, which help break down food and remove grease and dirt.

Dishwasher tablets can be bought from most local supermarkets or online but those with a dishwasher will likely already have some at home.

House 24/7 Dishwasher Tablets cost £1.49 for 30 from Sainsbury's, which works out at 5p per tablet, while Tesco All-In-One Dishwasher Tablets cost £3.56 for 40.

Other suggestions from Mrs Hinch fans included using washing up liquid and a dishwasher to clean air fryer drawers.

Louise Simpson said: "Soak with hot water and washing up liquid as soon as you take the food out, then wash when you've eaten."

Gina Singh-Trotz commented: "Dishwasher works also but if, like me, you use it everyday, you should wash it everyday."
