Transforming electric mobility in India, Maruti Suzuki will introduce the eBorn SUV, the e Vitara, a global model manufactured in India, at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, which was recently unveiled by Suzuki Motor Corporation at Milan, Italy.

Speaking on the announcement, Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki, said, “The e VITARA is a testament of our unwavering commitment to sustainable mobility and technological innovation. With decades of automotive expertise, we have combined advanced electric technology with a customer-first approach to deliver something truly transformative. At Maruti Suzuki, we have always believed that to promote EV adoption, we need to create a holistic ecosystem that simplifies customers’ battery electric vehicle ownership journey.”

He further added, “A critical barrier to the adoption of EVs is the lack of accessible charging. To tackle this issue, we are committed to introducing a reliable and comprehensive EV ecosystem alongside the e VITARA. This will include home charging solutions as well as a nationwide network of fast chargers available at Maruti Suzuki dealerships and service touchpoints. Our goal is to make EVs accessible, convenient, and appealing to a broader set of customers, and this is exactly what we have set out to achieve with the e VITARA.”

The e Vitara offers two battery options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The 49 kWh is available only in 2WD, while the 61 kWh comes in both 2WD with a single motor and AWD with twin motors. The 49 kWh delivers 142 bhp and 189 Nm of torque, the 61 kWh single motor produces 172 bhp and 189 Nm, and the AWD version offers 181 bhp and 300 Nm. The new Heartect-e platform features an eAxle that combines the motor and inverter, along with lithium-iron-phosphate batteries. It is designed for fast acceleration from a standstill and smooth overtaking at both low and high speeds.

The e Vitara will be available for two-wheel-drive and an electric 4WD or as Suzuki calls it AllGrip-e. The cabin has a dual-tone colour combination with dark grey inserts on the door panels and around the air condition vents. It has a two-spoke steering wheel, a huge screen that features the infotainment system and a digital driver’s console. The centre console has physical climate control buttons, a volume controller, an electronic parking brake with an auto hold function and multiple drive modes. The AllGrip-e version gets additional features like Trail mode and hill descent control. In terms of safety, the e Vitara will get an ADAS suite.

The e VITARA, inspired by the concept of an “Emotional Versatile Cruiser,” combines advanced technology with modern design. Built to meet the changing market demands and customer preferences, it will bring next-gen EV performance to the Indian automotive market.
