Natural gas U.S. prices averaged USD 2.99 per MMBtu in November, up 16.2% from October. On 29 November, the commodity traded at USD 3.37 per MMBtu, up 24.8% from 31 October.
Prices swept to a year high in November, with heating demand surging as the northern hemisphere enters winter. Compared to October, U.S. energy firms shipped 2.5% more liquified natural gas (LNG) to Europe in November and nearly a tenth more natural gas to U.S. companies and households in the first 21 days of the month. Supplies tightened, with the gas-rig count at an all-time low and U.S. natural gas inventories falling to 7.2% above their 5-year average in the week ending 22 November.
