Maruti Suzuki is currently getting the eVX production ready for the India launch. Additionally, the automobile giant also plans to take on the compact EV segment with the launch of a new electric hatchback. The upcoming electric car from Maruti Suzuki is probably inspired from the eWX concept electric car which the brand had showcased at the Japan Mobility Show held last year.

The upcoming Maruti Suzuki compact electric hatchback is said to be the primary replacement for the Wagon R EV which was also in the project phase. Several reports suggests that the company has already initiated the development work for its new-generation compact electric vehicles.
The codename for this new architecture which the brand has started working on is K-EV. It is expected that this same EV architecture will be employed in the future-generation compact electric cars from Maruti Suzuki. Furthermore, the use of multiple platforms by the company is apparently to get the best performance delivery from its EVs.
