MG Motors have recently revised prices of its ICE and electric SUV models. Alongside, the company’s smallest electric car, i.e., the Comet EV has also received a price hike. Select variants of the Comet EV have become expensive by up to Rs. 13,000 in the country. Does the Comet EV retains the title for the cheapest electric car post the price revisions? Let’s find out:

MG Motors has increased the prices of only select Comet EV models in India. The Comet EV Excite FC variant is now expensive by Rs. 11,000 (ex showroom) in the country. This model earlier had a price tag of Rs. 8,33,380 (ex showroom) and will now cost Rs. 8,44,800 (ex showroom).

Similarly, the Comet EV Exclusive Plus model which was priced at Rs. 8,88,000 (ex showroom) is now costlier by Rs. 11,800. Post the price revision, its price stands at around Rs. 8,99,800 (ex showroom). The Comet EV’s top variant, i.e., the Exclusive FC has received a maximum price hike of Rs. 13,000. Its previous pricing has been Rs. 9,23,800 (ex showroom), while the updated price is Rs. 9,36,800 (ex showroom).

Still The Cheapest EV In India?

MG Comet EV’s entry has been sensational in the electric four wheeler segment. It arrived as the cheapest EV featuring a PMSM electric motor Mwhich produces 41 bhp of power and 110 Nm of torque. Integrated with a 17.3 kWh battery pack, the Comet EV delivers around 230 km range on a full charge. While the Comet EV has become expensive, the hike is for the select models. The base trims have retained their original prices which means it still is the most affordable electric four wheeler in the country.
