A$AP Rocky only does suits that are big, vibey and Bottega Veneta

And Rihanna only does denim on date night

Sure, individually A$AP Rocky and Rihanna are hot shit. He pulls off massive outfits that dig into Gucci, Balenciaga and Bottega Veneta. She wears Jacob & Co. watches and Salomon trainers for the Super Bowl show. But put these two together and you've got an unstoppable force – and perhaps the best-dressed couple on the planet.

This weekend, A$AP and Rihanna were, again, photographed on the latest of many New York date nights. And again, he continued the winning streak of Bottega Veneta fits (last week he was the gift at his own birthday in a full look, with a bubblegum pink Andiamo bag). For this follow-up, though, he wore a louche grey suit from the Italian label, which was unstructured and hung loose. There were big stomper loafers on his feet. And, yes, another one of Veneta's woven intrecciato leather bags cast over his shoulder, this time in a less vibrant crocodile green. Oh, and a loose roll-up hanging from his mouth.

Rihanna meanwhile went for a double-denim two-piece, comprising an oversized shirt and jeans, under which she wore a tied-up shirt and exposed her Savage Fenty bra. Low-key, her dressed-down vibe complemented the nonchalance of Rocky's fit. Rihanna's own blacked-out sunglasses matched his, while her own diamonds paired up.

There are rules to dressing as individuals, and equally, there are rules to dressing as a couple. You've got to match each other's energy. If one side is dressed down, then you'd hope that the other half has joined them. Few couples in Hollywood have gotten into the swing of it (Justin and Hailey Bieber usually get it), but Rihanna and Rocky do this exceptionally well. They might not be matching in the traditional sense of the word, but in the details of their clothing there are always little nods to one another's outfit.

Of course, the rest of us don't need to orchestrate media set pieces and big fits for every date night. But we do need a bit of Bottega Veneta.
