Brian Cox looks… kind?

In London, the actor reversed Logan Roy and went all in on the jovial, nice college professor look

Succession may have ended some time ago, but we still think about Brian Cox's masterful performance as Logan Roy at least once or twice a day. It was one of the best parts of the entire show. It was fiery. It was filled with venom. It was terrifying. And while the Scottish actor is a bit of a pro hater IRL, he's also a very chill guy who just likes very chill suits.

Last night, the Emmy Award winner pulled up to the world premiere of the new The Lord of the Rings film, and there was just something so… kind about him. Starting from the very top, Cox slicked his pristine white hair all the way back, and he wore a pair of smart glasses from Ray-Ban – the ones with all the cameras built-in. He then threw on a double-breasted suit by esteemed British tailor Casely-Hayford.

In petrol blue wool, the jacket featured a slick two-button design, strong shoulders, and fanged-out peak lapels that were more oversized than usual. Cox's stylist, Venk Modur, paired this with a classic dress shirt, a red patterned tie, and a pair of perfectly-creased, perfectly-cut trousers.

It was pleasant. It was easy-going. It was approachable. And it was a also huge departure from Logan Roy's stealth wealth fits. You'd never see the Waystar RoyCo owner in anything like this. And judging by all the side quests that he's has been on over the past few months, it's a sign of a new, more fashion-y Brian Cox.

Just weeks after the curtain came down on Succession, the 78-year-old actor was spotted at Jonathan Anderson's Loewe Paris Fashion Week show. He rubbed the shoulders with the bright young things like Aron Piper, Omar Apollo, and Troye Sivan, and he fit right in. Two months later, he transformed into an overnight streetwear god thanks to the Kith autumn 2023 campaign.

And no one's surprised that he's having more fun with his wardrobe. When asked how he felt about Succession finally coming to an end, he told Entertainment Tonight: “In a good way, I'm happy it’s over.” And you know what? It's bittersweet, but if we get to see menswear as good as this, in a good way, we're happy it's over, too.
