The Jacquemus x Nike Air Max 1 is one of the spiciest collabs of the entire year. First revealed exactly six months ago today, when sneakerheads first caught a glimpse they were left shooketh. Now, after half a year of waiting, the collab has finally been confirmed.

Revealed in a collection of big, bold colourways including ‘Mystic Red,’ ‘Summit White,’ and ‘Metallic Silver,’ Simon Porte Jacquemus' first take on the Air Max 1 is exactly what you'd expect. From a distance, it looks almost identical to the classic ‘80s silhouette. But as soon as you take a closer look, you’ll immediately spot all kinds of fresh details that have been specifically created just for this Nike collab. Neat!

Working on top of a mesh base, this special sneaker features a series of suede overlays that wrap around the mudguard section. But after that, everything else veers away from the AM1 handbook. The usual leather sidewalls, for example, have been completely removed. And the giant Swooshes? Yep, they've been replaced with tiny chrome ones, just like the ones from the French luxury label's Air Humara LX and J Force 1 Low.

Jacquemus branding hits the tongue and heel, and underfoot, the midsole has been completely redesigned from the ground up, with a brand new squared-out Air bubble that's never been done before in the model's 37 year history. And just when you thought that was it, the trainers are finished off with quilted inner linings that are all super plush and super luxe. They're then packed in limited edition shoeboxes, and come with an exclusive leather hangtag that you won't be able to get anywhere else.

Official images of the ‘Metallic Silver’ have yet to be revealed, but according to an Instagram post by Mr Jacquemus himself, that's probably his fave colourway of the lot. So it'll probably be the one that sells out first.
