Biden: We need you to finish the job. Put the full force of your power as president behind your climate promises.
WASHINGTON DC (Feb. 7, 2023)–In response to the State of the Union, Ebony Martin, co-Executive Director at Greenpeace USA, said: “President Biden is right, this is a critical moment for our country. During the 2020 presidential campaign, we gave Biden a 75.5 out of 100 for his climate promises. But more than two years into his term as president, Biden has fallen short. We are not on track to prevent the most catastrophic impacts of climate change or to protect the communities that have suffered the most from fossil fuel pollution.
“Biden: We need you to finish the job. The time for talk is over. We are tired of your empty promises to hold oil and gas companies accountable for their role in devastating our communities and planet. Put the full force of your power as president behind your climate promises. Accelerate the transition from oil and gas to renewable energy. Stop leasing public lands and waters to oil and gas companies that perpetuate the environmental racism damaging Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities. Stand up to the abuse of power by the oil and gas companies who are sacrificing communities and their right to clean air and drinkable water all for the sake of money.”
