According to the customs statistics newsletter data, in March 2023, China imported 682,000 tons of steel products, an increase of 52,000 tons, or a decrease of 8.3% month-on-month; the average price was US$1,660.7/ton, a month-on-month decrease of US$141.5/ton, or a decrease of 7.9%. From January to March, the cumulative import of steel products was 1.913 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 1.303 million tons, or 40.5%.
In March 2023, my country imported 100.229 million tons of iron ore, an increase of 9.639 million tons or 10.6% month-on-month; the average price was US$117.7/ton, an increase of US$5.2/ton or 4.7% month-on-month. From January to March, the cumulative import of iron ore was 294.335 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 26.253 million tons, an increase of 9.8%.
In March 2023, my country exported 7.89 million tons of steel products, an increase of 1.73 million tons or 28.1% month-on-month; the average price was US$1,294.2/ton, an increase of US$186.0/ton or 16.8% month-on-month. From January to March, the cumulative export of steel products was 20.081 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.976 million tons, an increase of 53.2%.
