Gabriel Basso is a man of many passions. A quick investigation of the Instagram account belonging to The Night Agent star reveals that he goes all in on a number of extracurriculars like boxing, skydiving, judo and playing the drums, and he’s even a certified waller through the Dry Stone Walling Association. Hiding there in plain sight in his Instagram profile is one more: Basso is an artist who specializes in illustrations that he shares on a Son of None Instagram account and website.
For the first time, beginning today and continuing through next Monday, Dec. 9, the public can now own a piece of his creative pursuits. Basso is offering up his first signed print for sale for a piece titled Faster Than Death. The limited-edition ink illustration — Basso has autographed and numbered each print — is said to be a musing on Basso’s perspective on the “relationship between life, speed and mortality.” The piece, seen below, features male and female figures positioned on a winged creature with abstract and surreal elements that seemingly blend nature and fantasy in a distinctive style.

“I’ve always been drawn to storytelling, whether it’s through acting or creating art,” Basso explains in a statement to mark the milestone in his artistic career, which is expected to expand after the initial offering. “Faster Than Death is a culmination of my passion for expressing complex emotions in a way that resonates with people on a visceral level. This piece is about the intensity of living and the inevitability of moving forward.”
Basso flexing his creative muscle is nothing new to those who have been paying close attention to his social media footprint as he’s been sharing the finely crafted illustrations on the Son of None Instagram account since 2018. Last year he started sharing brief text, or little poems, to accompany each piece. The post accompanying Faster Than Death reads as follows:
Set flight to arrow and to paw,
The horror comes with gaping maw
My steed is fast, her nostrils foam
I will not taste the bitter loam.
In addition to The Night Agent, the Missouri native Basso has most recently starred in Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2 and Renny Harlin’s The Strangers: Chapter 1. He’s also in Kathryn Bigelow’s anticipated and untitled new film opposite Rebecca Ferguson, Anthony Ramos, Jason Clarke, Greta Lee, Idris Elba, Tracy Letts, Moses Ingram and Jonah Hauer-King.
