Loft conversion staircase/landing dilemma
Comments (5)Here's one we did!We put in a window at the bottom of the stairs and a door at the top! It could be difficult to get a landing in once your'e into the loft, depends on where the stairs have to come up, due to head height etc. However, I do believe that Building Regs require a door and a turn into the loft, so that you can't fall down the stairs if the door's open. Before you go down the route of what you'd like, find out what you can have, that's always my advice. Get in touch with your local Building Control at the Council and they will tell you what you've got to have in order to get it signed off....See Moreloft conversion and wet room
Comments (6)Wet room panels are ideal as they help the water stay within a space. You don't want water spraying everywhere especially if your having wooden furniture. This can cause the wood to blow as water always finds a way to get everywhere. Plus it will save time on cleaning when you get out....See MoreFirst home- help needed for loft conversion
Comments (6)Personally I think you need to check the planners view on making the existing loft bigger with either dormers or changing the hipped roof. If budget is an issue I suspect you won’t find moving the stairs to the loft cost effective. But you can likely make the landing lighter by addition a velux at the very top of the stairs. To gain additional accommodation the loft seems like the most cost effective solution but you could also extend over the sun terrace....See MoreHow to best utilise space in impending loft conversion
Comments (17)Thanks Katie, this looks great! The view is lovely I can definately see why you have done it this way. I love the window too. Do you mind If I ask what the dimensions of the room are for reference? My only concern would be if we could get enough full height storage on the eaves wall behind the bed, I don't think our room will be as big as this. The reason we planning to go for lots of tall storage is so that we can store away all our clothes and any other bits away as we don't have much storage throughout the rest of the house. So storage is a big thing on this build. But orientating the bed in that way make loads of sense. Ideally I would be able to just let them build the main shell and then get up there and position a bed in various places. But I guess so much has to be determined before that stage so the wall lights, plug points etc... are all in the correct place. I think I might draw some options up in CAD and then start a new thread and see which people prefer and what they would do themselves. Thanks for your comments and pictures :)...See More- 7 years ago
