Double Concrete House featured in the Wall Street Journal
Shortlisted for Don't Move, Improve awards 2016/7, published in the Wall Street Journal and featured on "Ugly House to Lovely House" with George Clarke on Channel 4.
A young couple purchased an un-modernised semi-detached Arts and Crafts-style home 'between the Commons' to create a new family home in a conservation area. Keen on both the original features of the house and the textural quality of board-formed concrete, we envisioned a folding plane of concrete that wrapped up, down, and over to sculpt a new kitchen and living area. This exciting concept actually draws upon the traditions of Arts and Crafts to create a modern, hand-crafted extension that refers to it's host structure through the construction process whilst presenting an unapologetic of-its-time design.
