To accommodate for a family and their growing needs, we were tasked with giving this two bedroom Queenslander a makeover in the form of an extension, in keeping with the popular French provincial style.
We implemented a clever design to mitigate costs while ensuring we met the client’s aesthetic and functional needs. Our extension work created a four bedroom house with ample living on a single level. The master bedroom came with a period ensuite and special cabinetry wardrobes. The creation of a separate double carport positioned at the front of the property, completed the project.
All new works were cleverly designed to maximize functionality, blending in perfectly with the existing house through the use of period gable roof lines.
The pool and bespoke pool house were conceived from the idea of introducing and addressing the absence of a designated entertainer’s space. By constructing the pool house the owners avoided the need to undergo any major renovations to the existing compromised house.
The Kalinga pool house was designed and built to be a year round functional space. In summer the sliding doors open up and the external shutters at either end capture the best of the bay breezes and cross ventilation to keep the space cool. In winter the pool house can be sealed up and the functional fire place kicks in.
The pool and pool house were designed and built on a restricted sloping site. It was styled in a blend of traditional and French Provincial to tie in with the existing house. The eclectic fixtures and finishes that were installed were a mix of new and second hand materials and products.
