Our client wanted her first home to be something she could move into quickly and also make her own. We were able to elevate this Edwardian Gable house with clean and modern interiors that embraced the abstract, the colorful, and the unexpected.

This home was a recently-updated blank slate when we came to the project. We were able to upgrade selected fixtures, add fun new wall coverings, and source furniture and accessories throughout to create a space that is contemporary, playful and dynamic.

The existing spiral staircase (that leads to the Primary Bedroom on the second floor) was painted a sunny yellow shade and now a sculptural focal point as well as complements the painting over the fireplace. To ground the bright colors, we incorporated a range of subtle textures and organic elements such as the travertine surface of the coffee table and the soft, woven texture of the grey-blue rug.

Color continues throughout the Primary Bedroom and a drapery fabric hand-picked by the client became the design choice that the room is built around. Because of the panoramic views of the San Francisco hill in this loft-style space, floor to ceiling drapes were brought in to darken the natural light when needed, and brings a dose of playful pattern and color to the space.
