Justin founded JLA+D in 2015 as an Architecture Studio with a strong focus on Museum and Exhibition Design, after working with the Italian Star Architect Renzo Piano on high profile projects like the California Academy of Sciences, the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art and the Harvard Art Museums. With 15+ years of experience, Justin truly understands the complexity and intricacy of working in the museum environment & knows what is needed to successfully execute the project in collaboration with the design team, clients, engineers and contractors from the beginning of the design process to the end of the construction and beyond.
Kathrin, a German Designer & engineer in architecture, is trained in rehabilitation of existing building structures. She has worked closely with clients on many projects from identifying project goals and conducting feasibility studies through design to construction completion. Her projects range from redevelopment planning and rehabilitating existing masonry and prefabricated concrete facades to retrofitting existing interiors according to new programmatic needs, while addressing concerns on sustainability and environmental impact. Her projects exceed functional requirements and visual expectations of public and private clients alike.
When Kathrin joined in 2018 to work with Justin as a husband & wife team, Lee²Design was born as a Boutique Design Studio, providing clients with complete Architecture & Design Solutions on custom furniture, interior fit-outs, additions, new buildings and master planning. Together, JLA+D and Lee²Design are capable of delivering a thoughtful and integrated design solution at any scale. Justin and Kathrin believe strongly in a close and constructive working relationship with the clients, the total work of exceptional design and the role of the Architect-Designer in providing careful and coordinated oversight on various aspects of the project. Both make sure projects are completed according to the vision developed with the clients.
