We had drywall and baseboards installed in two rooms of our home. We were delighted with the very professional work done and with workers keeping us informed at all times as to progress of work, answering any questions we had and being courteous and friendly. Would hire this company again. Excellent, stress-free experience.

I have hired John P. Black company on several occasions to do work on an historic house in Crewe, Virginia. The quality of their work was consistently excellent. They did drywall repair and oak floor refinishing after a major leak in the roof. The floor refinishing was perfectly adequate, but the representative from the company was not satisfied with the quality, so they hired a separate company to improve the result, at their own cost. I had a persistent roof leak, which they diagnosed and repaired, which required dismantling a large area of the roof and rebuilding the substructure to slightly change the flow of water off the roof. They know and respect historic buildings. Their prices are appropriate, given the care and expertise they exhibit. I would recommend them without reservation.

We hired John P Black for our master bathroom renovation after much research and quotes from other contractors. From the beginning they were accessible, responsive, punctual and fair. Most importantly they are great listeners. We had a shower pan leak requiring a complete demo and rebuild of our shower. The leak also damaged the kitchen ceiling below. We've undergone several past renovations, are detail-oriented clients and had very particular design plans for the bathroom. The John P Black staff not only brought our designs to life, but consulted us along the way with their construction expertise and provided smart solutions. They were communicative and patient with our design choices, which sometimes required extra labor and/or troubleshooting. There were several existing structures they had to work around. We couldn't be more pleased with our trusty crew led by Tony, who answered our many questions, were friendly as can be and took pride in their craft. The end result is beautiful. A complete transformation and much more functional space. We're really enjoying our new bathroom. We are especially pleased to have found a reliable contractor. We look forward to working with John P Black on other future projects.

We recently hired John P. Black to do some renovations to our home which included removing 2 walls, one being load bearing and relocating our kitchen. From consultation to competition we couldn't be more ecstatic with the work John P. Black did for us. Everyone involved in the project was very polite, answered any questions we had during the process and worked extremely well with us to get the desired outcome for the project. Mike, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with during the planning and throughout the renovation. He answered any questions we had and made him self available anytime we had questions. Scott and Daryl, the renovation crew, did an outstanding job with the project. From removing the walls, adding the new lam beam, relocating the plumbing of the new kitchen, right down to the final day of trim and cleaning, these guys handled themselves with the utmost professionalize. John P. Black transformed what was once just our house into a place we can now call "OUR" home.

In October, 2014, Scott with John P Black, Inc., performed some home repairs for me. He replaced ceramic floor tiles that had cracked, fixed broken drawers, replaced the door bell, and built and hung two large barn doors. I was provided with a quote and the repairs were completed with no problems. He was a total professional--on time, courteous, and knowledgeable. A few weeks later the water heater leaked and ruined more floor tiles. I called JPB and Scott replaced the ruined tiles. I would not hesitate to call John P Black, Inc., for any future home repairs needed.

My family hired John P. Black to restore an old barn and also to build a 4 bay garage with my son and his wife's home above it. The John P. Black team did a great job helping us interpret our building plan as well as implementing it. We needed to restore an old barn within our counties regulations and our cost requirements and at the same time maintain the integrity of the old barn. They did that artistically but keeping in mind safety and stability. Our garage/ home was built to appear part of a barn compound- fitting into the 2 barns that already existed. The gentlemen who worked on our house were very good builders, easy to work with and innovative in their approach to building. finished projects. We would definitely recommend this professional as a builder.

John P Black has helped our family over and over again as we keep up with our older wood frame house. We have had a new well-constructed back deck installed, French doors replaced, repairs to door frames and numerous other repairs and projects completed. The quality of the work is excellent. Each job has been done exactly as expected and on time – no surprises. The same skilled craftsmen have provided services and over time have come to know our house well and treat it as their own. Their service is great as well. They are responsive and return calls quickly and have provided detailed bids prior to the start of each of the projects we have had completed. Scheduled appointments are kept and work is done right the first time. John P Black stands behind all work completed with a warranty. Their combination of quality work, responsive service and customer satisfaction is hard to find.

I hired John P Black to do home improvements to the siding of my home. They were friendly, on time and did a nice job with the repairs. I had siding replaced with hardie board and pvc in other areas. I am a little afraid of heights and they fixed areas that I was not able to get to. They were neat and cleaned up all mess before they left. They did a great job.

I used John P Black after I purchased a home in Goochland county. They were given a punch list of various tasks from installing bathroom fixtures to fixing plumbing issues to installing a garbage disposal and instant hot water heater. Besides the professionalism of the employees, I was shocked at how quickly they completed the job since it was to be paid based on the number of hours it took to complete. They were prompt, arrived as scheduled and left no mess behind (which is always a plus). I am used to people taking their time to get more out of the job but they were the exact opposite.
