See Response: General Contractor, Designer, and Owner stopped talking to her & will not use her again? That speaks volumes on the Experience. The project started out with Pam Estabrooke attempting to use a cheaper paint than specified. She just blamed my General Contractor. We gave her a scope including all interior yet she continued to find ways to give me a new additional invoice. Her painters were very difficult and trashed our bathrooms from personal disgusting use after we told her not to allow them to use them. She is never on site so they are unsupervised. They left a mess of paint splatters on the floors, rails, etc. and many areas were not complete do to her painters not finishing due to her vacation and then theirs as she states. Painters were difficult during punch list and fought with our GC. Both our GC and Interior designer said Pam was nickel and diming me for no reason and they would never use her again. She currently sent me a new invoice for unspecified work not signed in a change order. I have to contract with a new painter to correct and finish her job. She had the audacity to send me yet another invoice. I would not use them, it will end poorly.

Comment from ProTect Painters of Central Gwinnett:
Mr. Haupt and I have very different views of this project. He authorized every detail of the work estimated and approved the paint specifications. The initial proposal specified the type of paint to be used and that is what I purchased. When I was told Mr. Haupt wanted another grade of paint we immediately removed the wrong paint from the site and new paint was purchased. On the second day of the job, Mr. Haupt decided to further update the scope of work that was outlined and requested that we add additional services. Additionally, there were a lot of other contractors working at the same time as my crews. HVAC, flooring, low-voltage electricians, electricians, masonry, landscapers, but we managed to work around each other. His final invoice clearly spells out what he is being charged for. I was onsite almost every day of this project. The security gate access records can confirm this. My crews worked six days a week for over six weeks. I met with the GC and the decorator on multiple occasions during this job and was in contact with the GC or decorator daily. There was hardly a day that went by that there was not some type of change on this project. We were responsive, accommodating and professional at all times. I also have messages from Mr. Haupt stating that we had been agreeable, responsive and he was impressed with our work. He complimented my painters very often. My lead painter took a Thursday - Sunday off after six full weeks on the job. All that was left was the final walk through which we agreed would not happen until after carpet and move-in. I have tried repeatedly since late August to schedule a final walk-through and touch-ups for this project. I was ignored by all three parties and have not heard anything from Mr. Haupt outside of the reviews he is posting.

Everything about my experience with this company has been a nightmare. I hired Pam and her crew to paint my cabinets and a custom double sided mantle over my fireplace. Initially we discussed painting my cabinets and then doing glazing or distressing everything in all the creases and crevices. We looked at pictures together and and I was told the look I was going for would be no problem. Cabinets were painted and and rehung. First issue was that when they were rehung nothing was even or level and they hung so cockeyed that there was huge gaps on various sides. I text the owner about this and told her there was an issue with that and told her that her lead guy told my sister in law (who was there that day for me with the painter) that the "distressing" wasn't something he often did and didn't feel comfortable doing it. She came the next day with stain markers and told me that it was no big deal and not too worry, so I tried not to. So the next day the "distressing" commenced. I had to be at my salon that day so when I came home that evening what I saw literally wrecked my entire day. It looked like a kindergartner took a crayola marker to my cabinets and custom mantle over my custom double sided fireplace. I didn't contact Pam that evening about it because I knew she was coming by the next morning for payment. When she came in and saw the work that had been done she told me that's that how it's supposed to look. I was in shock! She gave me the option to have her guy come back with his marker and touch it up and that I would have to be there to stand over his shoulder to tell him yes that's good or no that's not, I thought I had hired a professional that I wouldn't need to baby sit but clearly that wasn't the case. She also told me that my cabinets we in such sad shape to begin with that basically anything was an improvement. Which I will admit that the last time they were refinished that the painter didn't prep properly and paint was peeling off but the boxes and doors themselves were not in bad shape. After quite a bit of thought I felt like a quality job that would be even just okay couldn't be achieved with a stain marker by someone who didn't feel comfortable doing the job in the first place. So the guy came back out and just painted over the scribble on my cabinets and mantle. So I didn't end up getting the finished product that was initially agreed upon and will have to hire someone else to finish the job. To add insult to injury my house was left with paint splatter all over all of my stainless appliances and splatter and smear on my brand new hard woods. I would warn anyone against using Pam and her crews. Pictures will be in comments....

Comment from ProTect Painters of Central Gwinnett:
The agreed to "aging" treatment was done exactly as we have done many times and I have many pleased clients. I also showed her pictures and told her how we did it and she agreed that was what she wanted. She did not want us to do an all over glaze and the technique to add color in the raised edges of the doors and cabinets is by nature not an exact effect. It is "aged". She showed one of the workers a door from Home Depot that had an all over glaze. That was not what we had agreed to and that is why he made the statement about "not being comfortable" doing that technique. That was not what we had contracted to do. Clearly what she had in her head was not what we delivered, therefore, I did have the crew chief come back out and gave her the option of having him re-do the lines, straighten the ones she didn't like and/or paint over the technique all together. It was not "baby sitting". I wanted her to watch as the color was applied to make sure it was what she wanted. She opted to have it removed so we did. I also gave her price consideration for this and reduced the invoice. We were not told that there were any clean up issues or we would have promptly returned. I have offered every remedy for this situation that I can and she has refused. As part of this project we also replaced the entire backside of her island, and re-installed baseboard under the other cabinets and new toe molding. This was an insurance claim and her kitchen looks 100% better than when we arrived. I understand her frustration in not getting the final glaze that she wanted, but a 1 star review and a deduction of $600+ from her final invoice is unacceptable. If we are not allowed to return and remedy the clean up issues that is her choice. However, we delivered the job that she wanted and that her insurance company approved and will pay for. I want every customer to be happy with our work and feel we have added value. Some people are just not going to be satisfied.
This is the second time we have used ProTect Painters to paint our house. On this occasion, we opted for a major color change, along with extensive siding repairs and re-staining the deck. Pam was instrumental and professional throughout the entire process, and the project proceeded smoothly and efficiently. She also recommended a garage door replacement company, which proved to be a great experience also. We are very pleased with the final project.

I have been working with various building and handyman contractors having just moved into my home. I had some less than average experiences, so my expectations for a paint contractor was low. I was pleasantly surprised with ProTect!!!
They were highly professional, gave an accurate estimate, were timely and just overall fantastic. I even decided half way through the job that the paint color I selected wasn't working for me. They consulted, I selected a different color and they repainted and still finished the job in time.
As I finish unpacking each room, I have spent time appreciating the quality of their work...beautiful detail, cut-ins and accuracy. They even removed some trim at my request, sanded down, patched and painted - it looks great!
I have more jobs in my future and will absolutely use them again.

Pam, was quite responsive. The true test came when you have a call back for a minor issue, she was all over it and had people back here the next day.
I would hire them again.

This was one of the best paint jobs ever done on our house. Every detail was meticulously adhered to from the pressure washing, to the caulking and the painting. The team made sure that everything was done to our expectations and beyond.
They did such a good job at a reasonable price that we will use ProTect for our upcoming interior painting.

I used Protect Painters to paint my personal home and have referred them to many of my real estate clients over the past few years. They always do an excellent job, are professional and courteous. I would highly recommend Protect Painters. Pam knows the painting, window replacement and siding business better than any other contractor I have dealt with in my 16 years as a real estate broker with RE/MAX.
