Alan was a real pleasure to work with on the landscape plans for our ground up construction home in Larkspur, California. He was very friendly, attentive to our needs, and came up with a wonderful design that incorporated all of the elements and general feel for our landscape preferences. Alan Villamaire designed the first phase of our fire rebuild landscaping. He listened well, incorporating our ideas and proposing his own and addressed our timeline. His landscape plan covered the important areas of layout, grading, planting, irrigation and lighting. He has good knowledge of Sonoma County low-water plants suggesting both the beautiful stalwarts and options we hadn't considered. When the inevitable minor project hiccups occurred during installation, Alan was quick to provide solutions and/or alternatives. The thought and care Alan invested in our plan not only look good, they complement our site and home beautifully.

Alan's vision and expertise transferred a drab, weedy yard into a place we're very proud of. He listened well to our wants and guided to a beautiful landscape. Very pleased with the results and follow-up advice.

Working with Alan is an absolute pleasure! He is a knowledgeable, talented designer who is kind and patient. Alan designed the front and back yard for our fire rebuild in Coffey Park. As you can imagine the rebuild process was a difficult, emotional one for us. Alan took this in stride, working well with our builder and creating beautiful landscapes that would work within our budget. I am an avid gardener and my husband is a designer, so we came into the project with strong opinions. Alan listened to all of them and built upon them in wonderful ways that we never could have anticipated – considering not only the outside but also each view from the inside. We are now beginning to build our landscapes and with each step in fulfilling Alan’s plan I find myself happier and more at home in our rebuilt house. This would not have been possible without Alan’s guidance and hard work.

Excellent experience!... Alan made a special trip down to Orange County to review our existing landscaping around our 100 year old house, interview us for our “vision” and quickly came back with some amazing solutions and possibilities! He is definitely an Artist that has the vision and creativity to see what will ultimately look awesome!

Alan is a pro! He showed patience, flexibility, professionalism and compassion when working with homeowners rebuilding after the Tubbs Fire. He helped create beautiful landscapes for people who were feeling down and confused on where to start. He walked them through the process like a champ and sent them home with a beautiful landscape plan to work from. Alan is a true professional.

We worked with Alan (Village Landscape Architecture) to help us with a large corner lot front yard after removing all of our lawn. We wanted drought tolerant plantings that would be a benefit to wildlife, but didn't know where to start. We asked Alan to deliver a plan, in the form of drawings, that we could implement ourselves. Alan was easy to communicate with and listened carefully to our parameters. Beyond recommending the placement and varieties of plants, Alan drew a plan that also incorporated an inviting addition to our walkway entrance. We loved his creative additions of hardscape which tied back to our love of Mother Nature's natural landscape. We still love the design today - 4 years later. Alan was easy to work with, a good listener, and provided the deliverable on time. I highly recommend him.
