After the crisis mood at the start of the year, the business climate for the self-employed and microenterprises in Germany moderately improved in February. The “Jimdo-ifo Business Climate Index for the Self-Employed” rose -21.1 points*, up from -24.9 points* in January.

Sentiment among companies in Germany continues to be skeptical. The ifo Business Climate Index remained unchanged at 85.2 points in February.  While companies were slightly less satisfied with current business, expectations brightened somewhat. The German economy is waiting to see how things develop.

The result is truly a sight to behold. “FlowStates,” a data-driven artwork based on the figures and data from the economic research institute, is now displayed on a massive screen in the foyer of the ifo headquarters. Organic forms that constantly move and create new patterns now flow in real-time to the rhythm of current data updates.
