The US states that won’t accept Trump’s election loss and want the result reversed, mapped

18 states that Donald Trump won in the presidential election have joined forced to launch legal action against the states that Joe Biden successfully flipped in a last gasp attempt to overthrown the results.

Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, and West Virginia, all of which voted for Trump have filed an amicus brief against Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan and Georgia which is attempt to overthrow the results in those states that Biden won.

Texas attorney general Ken Paxton launched legal action against those four states claiming that their Covid related procedures violated federal law and wants the Supreme Court to ignore the results in those states and have them blocked by the electoral college.

Paxton is also asking the states to delay the 14 December deadline which the date that states have to appoint an elector who will then confirm which candidate won the election. Lawyers from Texas wrote “That deadline, however, should not cement a potentially illegitimate election result in the middle of this storm.”

The states which have filed the amicus brief can be seen on the map below.

It should be noted that states like Alaska, Idaho, Wyoming, Iowa, Ohio, North Carolina and Kentucky, all of which voted for Trump have not added their names to this lawsuit.

Unsurprisingly Trump is a big fan of this attempt to flip the election in his favour, thanking the states involved calling the case ‘the big one.’

Although Trump seems confident that this case will finally get him the victory that he yearns for there has already been considerable pushback. Georgia’s Republican secretary of state, Brad Raffensperger, has already rejected the claims put forward by the brief, with his deputy adding, Jordan Fuchs adding, “Texas alleges that there are 80,000 forged signatures on absentee ballots in Georgia, but they don’t bring forward a single person who this happened to. That’s because it didn’t happen.”

Dana Nessel, the attorney general for Michigan also rejected the suit calling it a ‘publicity stunt’ adding “Mr. Paxton’s actions are beneath the dignity of the office of Attorney General and the people of the great state of Texas.”

Whether this will be the case that unlocks things for Trump remains to be seen but so far his legal team has been unable to produce any sort of substantial evidence and have had more than 50 cases dismissed by courts across the United States.
