First iPhone from 2007 introduced a revolution in the virtual keyboard category. Since then, the keyboard in iOS have evolved significantly. Among the biggest milestones of change is, for example, support for third-party keyboards with the arrival of iOS 8. They all get smarter every year, and that's in the case of Appmainly in the form of autocorrect and word prediction.

Surely each of you has your own opinion on auto correction. For some, it helps to significantly reduce the time spent on writing. Others find it so annoying that they prefer to turn it off. It has already brought many people into embarrassing situations, when the person in question accidentally sent something other than what he originally intended, because his message was automatically "corrected". That's why we bring you a few tips on how to deal with auto proofreading:

Reset the keyboard dictionary

The keyboard offers you corrections for specific words as you type. If you reject its repair several times in a row by clicking on X, it will remember it and will not bother you with this expression next time. It is important to remember that the keyboard from Applu is still learning. But it's possible that you accidentally taught it something that you don't like now. An easy way to fix this problem is to clear the keyboard dictionary. Here's how to unlearn everything:

  1. Open the application Settings
  2. Continue to category In general
  3. Now at the very bottom click on Restore
  4. Press Reset keyboard dictionary

Use text replacement

Although this is not a feature of autocorrect itself, it can be used as a great addition. It is especially useful for Czech. If iPhone does not know the word at all, it is possible to learn it "the hard way".

  1. Open again Settings
  2. Go to In general
  3. Now to Keyboard
  4. Click on Text replacement
  5. Press the ➕ button
  6. To the field Phrase complete the whole word or sentence correctly
  7. Pole Abbreviation you can either notchat empty, the phone will treat this word as correctly spelled, or write here a shortened or simplified version of the phrase from point no. 6 - then it will be enough to write the chosen abbreviation and it will be automatically rewritten into the preset text.

Turn off auto proof completely

If none of the above instructions work and you are already on the verge of madness, you can turn off the auto proofreading completely.

  1. Open as in other cases Settings
  2. Click on In general
  3. Click on Keyboard
  4. Move the switch Auto proofreading to the off position
