The default iOS keyboard has undergone many changes since its inception. The design changes and interesting, but often hidden functions are added. Of course, since iOS 8 we can use third-party keyboards, which contain even more interesting features. However, for the purposes of this article, we will only use the keyboard directly built into the iOS system, since each of us has surely come into contact with it. We will show you 8 useful keyboard tricks that you can do without installing additional applications.
1. Writing special characters and letters
This is a very used element of the native iOS keyboard. If you hold your finger on any of the keys, a menu will appear with different variations of a particular character. For example, if you hold your finger on the letter “o”, you will see a selection of characters “ó, ô, ö, ò, õ, œ, ø, ō.
Another useful example can be holding down the currency symbol “€“, it will open a menu of multiple symbols of different currencies from the US dollar to the South Korean won. Also, the hidden ability to write the degree "°" by holding the "0" key can come in handy.
2. Emoticons in different skin colors
In connection with the previous case, it is possible to display the offer of the person's skin color by holding down the person's emoticon. The function does not apply to "classic round" smileys. It is necessary to directly use the face of a person, for example a policeman.
3. Switching prediction on and off directly in the keyboard
Some of you are definitely using the English version of the keyboard. If you also use it to write English text, you have most likely come into contact with the function of predicting words, the so-called prediction. Some may find it annoying, others very useful, the decision is up to each of you.
However, if you decide to turn the prediction on or off, just hold the small globe symbol (or smiley) in the lower part of the keyboard and slide your finger to the top option in the displayed menu Prediction.
4. How to quickly write domains in Safari
This trick includes accelerated writing of first-order domains, for example .cz .sk .com .org. All you have to do is open Safari and type the name of the page in the search field. Then hold your finger on the dot symbol next to the space bar and then just select from the displayed menu.
5. How to turn on text dictation
This is a very fast form of text entry. A big advantage is that, as one of the few "interesting" functions, it is also available in the Czech language. It starts by clicking on the little microphone icon. Dictation handles diacritics and is more accurate than expected, even in noisy environments. Correct articulation and larger spaces between words will add to the accuracy. To write, for example, a question mark, just say the password "question mark".
6. Using 3D Touch as a trackpad
On devices with a 3D Touch display, pressing down on the keyboard area turns it into a trackpad that you can use to move the cursor. It is a significantly faster option for orientation in the text than the classic "old" search with a magnifying glass. We know a similar function from the iPad, where the same option is invoked by dragging two fingers across the keyboard.
7. Landscape mode iOS keyboard and Back button
If you turn your iPhone upside down, you'll see more keys than you're used to. These are mainly the "dash, period, left, right and back" buttons. The Undo function allows you to return the part of text you just typed. You can read more about this "Back" function in previous article.
8. Double-click the spacebar to create a period
The last tip is more for new iOS users. This is a very simple and quick way to write a period. Just double-tap the "space" key and the dot will create itself.
I am mainly annoyed by the fact that Google Board still does not support qwertz. Not even according to the LSA instructions..
He can easily do that, but he doesn't have it on SwiftKey?
This is unfortunately true. But SwiftKey na is very hackneyed for IOS.
Even if you shake up while typing, the option to cancel or cancel the action will appear below ;)
I turned this off in the settings because it was asked quite often and I didn't want to recall anything.
Thanks for the grades. ° I missed you.
