I've been using the My BMW app every day for the last few freezing days when I return from my morning walk with the dog to switch on the independent heater and get into a warm car. Due to the frequency of use, I thought of adding a widget of this application to start the heating faster. Unfortunately, it was around that time that I started to notice that the battery percentages on my iPhone were literally disappearing before my eyes. Since I've had the phone for about four months and the battery health is 100%, I could immediately rule out a bad battery, so I started looking.

The first thing that is offered is to look at the battery usage by individual applications, where, however, at first glance it seemed that nothing was draining the battery more than the standard. That BMW widget actually didn't use the app at all, at least according to the App Usage overview, it wasn't until I selected the option to show activity that I noticed how much it was running in the background. In addition, the widget constantly communicates with the vehicle to, for example, know whether everything in the car is in order or to inform you about the filling status of the tank. In the view activity overview, I found that the widget has been running for 10 hours in the last ten days, which is quite a lot. After removing the widget, the battery consumption returned to normal.

So, if out of the blue your phone starts consuming more power than you're used to, the best option is to take a good look at the application activities in the battery settings and see if there's anything suspicious there. Alternatively, just remember what you've changed on your phone lately and roll it back.
