The iOS 9 operating system was introduced in mid-2015 and released to the public in September of the same year, along with the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus and the iPad mini 4. In addition to these devices, it was compatible with the iPhone 6 Plus, 6, 5S, 5C, 5, 4S and first-generation iPhone SE, iPod touch 5th and 6th generation and iPads 2-4 generation, iPad mini 1-4, the first two iPad Airs and the iPad Pro. The system brought, among other things, updates to native applications, e.g. in Notes it was now possible to draw sketches or insert images using various tools, Apple Maps received support for public transport (although initially in a limited number of places), etc. Other innovations were search proactivity (thanks to the combination of the voice assistant Siri and advanced search), allowing to display immediate results in a "widget" format, including weather, news, sports etc., a new application for news aggregation Apple News, more forms of multitasking (iPad), Night Shift mode, which changed the colors of the device's display to warmer, less blue light containing tint, or features using display technology 3D Touch (iPhone 6S/6S Plus) Quick Actions, which are shortcuts on application icons on the home screen.
