OS X Mavericks

OS X Mavericks (version 10.9) was introduced in June 2013 and released four months later. New features included continued iCloud integration, improved performance and reduced memory requirements, Timer coalescing, which improves energy efficiency by reducing CPU consumption (up to 72% according to Apple), allowing MacBooks to run longer and desktop Macs to run cooler, among others , more apps from iOS – Maps and iBooks, the menu bar and the Dock are now available on every display and AirPlay-compatible displays can be used as external displays, a new App Nap app that puts apps not currently visible to sleep, iPOTB functionality (Internet Protocol over Thunderbolt Bridge), allowing the user to quickly transfer a large amount of data between two Macs, an improved notification center that now allows the user to respond to notifications immediately and send notifications to websites as well, or an improved Finder file manager that got full-screen support, bookmarks and the ability to mark documents with labels. Support for the system ended in September 2016.
