The PowerBook 540c was introduced - along with the PowerBook 520, PowerBook 520c, PowerBook 540 and PowerBook 550c notebooks - in the spring of 1994. It was equipped with a Motorola 33LC68 processor clocked at 040 MHz, 4 or 12 MB of operating memory and a hard disk with a capacity of 240 , 320 and 500 MB. In terms of hardware, it was similar to the PowerBook 540 model, but compared to it, it offered a color display. In late 2000, it was named the 2nd best PowerBook in history by insanely.great.com. Like other models of the PowerBook 500 series, it had a trackpad, 16-bit stereo sound with stereo speakers, the possibility of upgrading to PowerPC architecture (thanks to a replaceable daughter card with a processor), a PC Card interface (PCMCIA), an expansion frame or an Ethernet port.
