Saying No is seen as quality that exhibits you have clarity, control and predictability on your actions, This opens up rooms for better action for sure. With tough bosses, try explaining the scenario with data points, past experiences and ‘what if’ possibilities.

When combined with empathy, active listening and maintaining a genuine curiosity can help the other person feel heard and seen, develop rapport and trust, and help us learn new views that will improve our overall viewpoint on the matter and lead to a better result.
