Financial Stability: Review your financial situation, including retirement savings, pensions, and ongoing expenses. Career Satisfaction: Reflect on your job satisfaction and passion for the industry. Future Goals: Consider personal and professional goals, and whether continuing to work aligns with them. Work-Life Balance: Evaluate how work affects your personal life and relationships. Consult with Family and Advisors: Seek input from family members and financial advisors. Phased Retirement: Consider part-time work or consulting to ease the transition.

A person may not be able to work in the construction industry due to physical reasons but one can still continue to continue by sharing expertise via training articles which can be published and in-house and public training seminar but to do this the person needs to continue to upgrade their knowledge by continuously following developments as available on social media and reports. Sharing my mother's wisdom, she said if you can afford it, retire from age 45 to age 55, then work until you physically cant work anymore. This would ensure you have ten years to enjoy life without the pressures of work and most likely while you are still healthy enough to really enjoy retirement. The problem is, most of us do not believe we can do that - or try the "FIRE" methods. Most people get a sense of belonging and self fulfillment by working and there's no reason why retirement age means you have to give that up. For my lifestyle, I would like to continue working, aka seeing friends and feeling engaged in something bigger than myself, on a part time basis well after retirement age. But that's my lifestyle choice.

Remote consultancy is also a good option even after retirement. Use of social media dedicated channels and handbooks is a good legacy for young generations.

Once you have passed the financial test, the job satisfaction is declining there is one other major item to consider. If you are going to start a long term project, will you stay until it's completion. If the answer is may be or no, then you should retire before the project starts. Consider training younger team members or mentoring.
