Here's how you can effectively set and achieve goals as an entrepreneur.

By visualizing success, setting SMART goals, taking action in manageable steps, and tracking progress, I can effectively set and achieve my entrepreneurial goals and turn my vision into reality.

As with any journey, once you have the destination clear in your mind, start considering everything you're going to need to pack before you set out. Especially the essentials - map, phone, wallet, food and clothes. Break the journey into stages. Schedule rest and review time. Consider the milestones you're going to encounter, and when you expect to reach them, so that you know if you're on time or not. Yes, things will change, and unexpected things will happen. That's normal. You'll take detours (deliberately and by mistake), but if you've done your planning correctly you can deal with those along the way.

Agility and being willing to pivot is great, but make sure you remain aligned to the big picture. Use the Strategy Pyramid as your barometer to make sure your vision, mission, strategy and goals don't drift out of sync, however unintentionally. If big changes are needed, and let's face it pivots can be seismic, start from the top of that pyramid and work down. Has your vision or mission changed? Unlikely. One or more of your goals may have changed, that's fine. But be clear on what your goals are (new and old) before thinking about your strategy. The strategy is your plan to achieve clearly defined SMART goals. Remember the hierarchy.

As SMART as many goals are at the outset, they will drift away and fall apart if you don't react to the environment in which you are seeking to achieve them. Be proactive when dealing with changing resources, priorities and circumstances. What seemed fine on paper may prove to be less practical in reality. You will notice this eventually, but that is costly, and potentially ruinous. Encourage your team members to engage their individual radars so that they can spot risks and issues way out. This will enable you to deal with them in a timely and efficient manner. Small course corrections early on are markedly more effective and efficient than big sharp swerves when you're closer to the destination.

Set goals that are NOT based on what you yourself can do, but are based on the desired outcome. It's easy to become overwhelmed when our goals require 100% of our physical, mental and emotional labor. However, when we consider what is needed and not who is needed, we can be more efficient and effective. For example, in launching our YouTube channel, I took the time to learn what a YouTube channel requires, so I could decide what needed to be delegated. If I had remained focused on PERSONALLY doing every task, the channel may have never seen the light of day. But looking at the desired outcome; the tasks and being mindful of what I was incapable of or unwilling to do, made creating our YouTube team easier. And we launched. 🎉🎉🎉
