Over the years of Experience I have, the best way to excel in BIM can be categorized on the following basis;- Software Proficiency: Develop deep expertise in Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD. Utilize Dynamo for Revit to automate workflows and enhance productivity. Standards and Interoperability: Ensure compliance with ISO 19650 and COBie standards. Implement effective data exchange workflows between BIM tools and platforms. Automation and Continuous Learning: Proficiency in scripting languages like Python and Dynamo for task automation. Commit to continuous professional development through conferences, courses, and certifications.

Today, all engineering groups believe that BIM is the best approach to achieve the following subjects. The Autodesk company strives to enhance BIM tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, and NAVISWORK. 1- There are significant differences between AutoCAD and Revit. AutoCAD is the ideal software for initial design due to its specific properties, while Revit is a comprehensive database. The integration between them is crucial. 2- a cloud platform such as BIM360 can improve interoperability between different software, enhance collaboration among colleagues to ensure accuracy and facilitate document submission based on deadline. 3-Managing the database effectively is crucial for finding the best solution and delivering top-quality reports to clients.

# BIM managers need to be well-versed in industry-standard BIM software. I’ve seen many great people with modeling skills but they don’t put that much effort into understanding why things need to be made that way. Acquiring overall knowledge around BIM environment is essential to make a change in the industry and to be outstanding within the company you work with. It also provides a personal growth among other aspects such as versatile workflow and models management.

For the efficient running of a project, it is not the sole responsibility of the coordinator alone. Every person involved in the team has an equal responsibility and the coordinator must be capable of handling all the resources inan efficient way so that they may utilise their talents in an efficient way.

To handle a project you must be able to scope the end from the beginning. Setting the goals first and then it comes the planning phase where you will need to set realistic deadlines. A healthy project where every single detail is being taking care of is as important as the health of the human talent, so making a symbiosis between this two aspects is highly important. For effective management of the project, a BIM Manager should be capable to understand the planning of a project. This includes managing the various scope of the project and having teams work more collaboratively during all phases of the project.

The BIM Manager will often be faced with moments of project management. Be prepared to feel the pressure and be flexible. Planning and scheduling skills, resource allocation, and the ability to track project progress are essential, but managing pressure is also very important. You'll need to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders, some technical and some non-technical, and effective communication involves being able to explain complex technical issues in a way that non-technical people can understand.

As a BIM Manager you are not above anyone, you are there to guide people with the knowledge you’ve acquired previously, but it doesn’t mean you know every single thing about BIM environment or related. Disagreements will always be a thing and they will happen eventually, but must know how to manage them and be open to new ideas, perspectives and different workflow environments or solutions. Communication is key and being able to transmit information from architects to engineers, from engineers to BIM Specialists is essential. Be active, wise and honest to achieve this.

Problem-solving skills encompass a range of abilities needed to tackle unforeseen challenges in the workplace effectively. They involve analytical thinking, clear communication, emotional intelligence, resilience, creativity, adaptability, and collaborative teamwork. The process includes recognizing and defining the problem, dissecting it into manageable components, devising possible solutions, implementing the selected solution, and evaluating the results.

BIM can help the BIM manager to solve problems, but it can also help to improve problem solving. The other side of problem solving can be in the direction of the BIM process and various impacts on it that require certain actions to adapt it or change the process altogether. Timing is key! Whatever issue the BIM manager faces within the project timeline, identifying it as early as possible is critical to maintaining the integrity and progress of the BIM project. Things can get critical, with increased cost and time for resolution, as well as pressure on the overall design and BIM project schedule. The ability to think and act as early as possible is very important and it is the essential skill even before the problem arises.

Embracing the concept of continuous learning is a key strategy for a BIM manager seeking to maximize the value they provide to their projects and teams. You will learn a great deal, attend a variety of training sessions and workshops, and earn certificates along the way. Methods for achieving clarity include using examples, asking questions, and providing context. Effective communication starts with being clear in your own mind about what you want to convey. Then, be clear when you deliver the message, and make sure the other person hears and understands the message you sent.

While working in a government-facility project I learned many things, but two of them being the most important among the other ones: 1. Coordination between disciplines and departments is as valuable as the AEC planning and 2. Listening to your co-workers opinions and viewpoints is real important. Combining those two we can avoid troubles, clashes, problems between people, exceeding the expected deadlines and delivering a good, well-developed project where the modeling and information are in the same line to have a profitable project. There will be disagreements and setbacks but a good direction and planning is key and could potentially save the team from a failure.
