In vice versa, professional experience can also help to get some Data Structures and Algorithms logic. For example, a few days ago I solved a leetcode hard problem using the concept of Message Queues, and it worked. So both algorithmic habits and professional experience are needed for doing better.

I often have the temptation to dive deep into advanced concepts skipping the basics. But you need to have a "started from the bottom" mentality because going for the hard stuff first is like building a house starting with the ceiling... it's simply impossible. Don't mug up the things, understand what is happening under the hood.Suppose in c++ there are different STL, set, map, unordered_map, stack, queue etc.You don't need to implement every time but have basic understanding how these things are created.And then use the STL to solve problems.The counts of problem you solve doesn't implies that you are better but at the same with if you solve 10-12 problem in each topic you will start recognising the pattern and also get comfortable to try new problems which you have not seen before.There are sets of Algorithms that you should know for example BFS,DFS, Kadane's Algo, sliding window, two pointer etc.

The general idea around problem solving when it comes to DSA or HLD/LLD problems is that you are never expected to come up with a solution from the pov of first principles this is not a research domain so what is expected is to identify the breadth of the already existing patterns available and sort of create a template out of it so that it can used as a plugin across the real world solutioning depending upon the already existing usecases. Cultivating the idea of reading tech blogs steadily is going to help a lot more than mugging up some 500 DSA problems( which is not a bad thing to do) but the assumption here being once one gets comfortable with real life industry solutions things start to make more sense from the broader perspective :)

You'll figure out and learn so many things about anything that you wanna learn on the way if you commit to finish what you start. Do not wait until you know everything. You don't need to be the best each time. When I interviewed for my first SWE internship I choked on a simple algorithm. The thing that saved me was... communication. Remember, the person who is interviewing you wishes you the best and wants to see not only how good you are in pure technical stuff, but also if you will be a good team fit. Surely you need to know the basics, and you need to have that "piece of magic" inside you, but simply admitting that you don't understand something and reaching for help can be as valuable as being a great programmer.
