One thing I have found helpful when it comes to embracing flexibility is inspiring team members to buy into the outcome of the project, not the process or their tasks. I believe this influences the perspective with which a change is considered. A project manager needs to ensure the team isn't emotionally attached to the processes at the detriment of the objective/scope.
