Meine Vorbereitung auf einen neuen Job beginnt immer mit der Recherche: was sind die Werte des Unternehmens? Was sind die Anforderungen der Stelle? Was kann ich in dem ganzen beitragen? Ich habe das oft auch mit anderen besprochen und mich gut vorbereitet - dann kann ich beim Interview auch genau raushören, ob es von beiden Seiten passt.

If you want to stand out and actually get positive feedback you need to: - check the JD and see how your skills align with the role - what skills you still need to develop , also be honest about it in the interview - find the person that used to do this role and study their LinkedIn - in this role what value could you bring based on your experience , come with 3 concrete stories where you showed this value . - based on your research , any solutions you can have for them ?

- Focus on growth, not just goals: Highlight a desire to learn and develop alongside achieving specific targets. - Quantify achievements: Use data or examples to demonstrate past success and ability to reach targets. - Align with company goals: Show how your ambitions contribute to the organization's overall success.

If you can't see yourself in the role for at least 2 years, it might not be the role for you. If you can - work that to your advantage in the interview. Talk about long-term possibilities in the role. Yes, they want to know you want to grow, but too fast and they're back to the recruiting process all over again.

- Target specific roles: Research and name the positions you aim for, not just generic titles like "manager." - Outline development plan: Briefly mention skills or experiences you want to gain to reach your goals. - Connect goals to company: Explain how your career aspirations align with the organization's needs.

Another question to draw out what they're looking for is to ask about what they need, and why they are hiring for this role. You can use that to guide your answers and add relevant experience, or future goals.

You can connect better with the interviewer when you know things about them , so check their LinkedIn , any articles they wrote , any events they attended , anything you have in common ? Tell a story related to this and make them part of it , You know John just like you did ….

Get comfortable with storytelling. Even in an interview, a well-placed story will go a long way to getting you the job. "Let the Story do the Work" by Esther Choy is a great resource on storytelling for business.

Avoid generic statements like "I want to be successful" without explaining what that means to you. Ensure your goals also demonstrate how you will contribute to the company. Be realistic about what can be achieved in the timeframe you mention.
