Without self awareness, one is not able to even see areas where feedback is even needed. I once asked my business partner if the vibe in a meeting we just had seemed off. He quickly said, "Oh yeah, the team was tuned out." I then asked if I did anything to cause this and again he quickly said, "For sure, you really seemed to be on the attack." My intention was not to attack but to challenge; to push boundries. Without my own self awareness to realize I may be causing the problem, I never would have been open to feedback and then modify my behavior and be more inclusive with others.

As an intern navigating the path to leadership, embrace challenges as stepping stones, not stumbling blocks. Stay curious, ask questions, and seek feedback like a sponge soaking up knowledge.
