One of the tools to increase self-awareness is to ask for feedback. We can consider criticism as feedback that we did not directly asked for and evaluate it with the mindset that this contributes to our self-development. Being mindful, practicing mindfulness can help to receive feedback with a growth mindset. The same goes when giving feedback. You can give it in a way that it is easier for the other to digest so this is definitely not criticism then.

It's easy to be triggered and have all of the "I'm not good enough" rear it's ugly head. Consider: -> How does the feedback integrate with what you value and your model of the world? -> Is that information useful and would you like to create change in a direction towards the issue? -> Is that feedback for your greater good and growth?

Something as simple / straightforward as "What do you mean by that?" or "Can you tell me more?" will help clear up any misunderstandings.
