My experience is that companies allow dev. teams to work freely without any standard in Data Architecture, they have full autonomy to do whatever they want and only in the Analytics area, in the Lakehouse or Datawarehouse that Data Architecture has some power. So companies that do this cannot have data quality. It is the wrong way of doing things. ETL is a mess and the Data Lineage is never up to date.

This part is crucial. Having several microservices residing in different databases and data stores is usually a pain. Development teams usually choose the Data Store technology without respecting Data Architecture standards. These are the challenges I usually see and data integration is way worse because of that. So, respect Data Architecture since the beginning is the only way.

Data analytics is vital for generating value from data, such as identifying opportunities, solving problems, optimizing performance, and creating new products and services. Data architecture can support data analytics by designing data warehouses, data lakes, and data marts; choosing and deploying data analytics tools and platforms; and enabling data visualization and reporting. By supporting data analytics, data architecture can enable more informed and actionable decisions, more competitive advantage, and more customer value.

Data Architecture shall deliver the data ready to be consumed. Either a LakeHouse or WareHouse. Data lineage, quality, standards and SLAs shall be defined and provided by Data Architecture. Then, analytics is ANOTHER area, that Data Architect does not have to officially take care.

Data governance is important for ensuring that data is managed in a compliant, secure, and ethical way. By enabling data governance, data architecture can ensure that data is used responsibly, reliably, and respectfully.
