Evaluating teachers requires a framework that is tailored to the context's expectations, standards, and needs. However, research-based, comprehensive, and mission-aligned frameworks are often the most effective. For example, the Danielson Framework for Teaching focuses on four domains of teaching: planning and preparation, classroom environment, instruction, and professional responsibilities. These domains have several components and indicators that describe effective teaching practices. The Marzano Teacher Evaluation Model also has four domains with elements and scales that describe levels of teacher performance. The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) is another framework with five core propositions that reflect the knowledge, skills, and dispositions of accomplished teachers. This framework also includes standards and assessments for different subject areas and grade levels.
