I honestly do not know how anyone can successfully recruit without some sort of ATS or CRM system. It is 10000% a must have.

It is very hard to screen candidates without an ATS, which saves a lot of time and helps you manage candidate experience better. As soon as you have all your rejected candidates, you can send them a bulk email to let them know they were not shortlisted. Greenhouse, for example, will allow you to have email templates that you can use for feedback, which helps you save time on drafting individual emails.
