How can you find career counseling services that offer resume writing and interview preparation assistance?

Fresh graduates can still turn to their alma mater's (universities/ colleges) career services centre for some form of assistance. some may refer them to other organisations (paid or run by the government) to guide them along.

Just a reminder via the US department of labor funding each state and county provide career transition services via centers. Check your local county website or the US Labor department website for locations and other helpful tools. Your tax dollars at work!

Most educational institutions have career offices and/or alumni offices that offer they services for free or a small fee. If that is not available to you, there are resume and/or coaching services that can help you through these steps.

While I believe you can find many sources in resume building but having said that I find it even more effective having connects with your professional networks, there are many professionals and coaches who absolutely coach and mentor. Seasoned coaches and speakers can help you with recommendations and help, given they would have used the similar approach. To sum up, have good networks across platforms and obtain first hand knowledge and insights.

Many career networking groups have speakers that are professional coaches. Many of these groups are free so you can get a sample of how the coach operates. These days these groups are meeting on Zoom so you can get perspectives from across the country. You can also ask people in your network who they have had success with. Keep in mind you need to find the coach that vibes for you. Someone else may have had success with one but they may not be a fit for you. A good coach will realize you two are not a good fit and will recommend another coach.

As always, the internet is a great place to begin. If you seek in-person services, search by location; if you are open to virtual services, search by services provided. Ask the resume writer or coach about their career history. A writer or interview coach with some history coaching or experience working in your field may understand the nuances of appropriate resume design for your field. In addition, consider resume writing and interview preparation as a combined service.
