Safety Perception: Segregated bike lanes create a physical barrier between cyclists and traffic, thereby influencing people's perception of safety. Painted lines do not! Reducing Stress and Anxiety: Separating cyclists from traffic reduces the stress and anxiety often associated with navigating busy roads. When individuals feel less stressed or anxious, they are more likely to choose this mode. Behavioural Reinforcement: When individuals experience the convenience, safety, and efficiency of segregated lanes, it reinforces their behaviour positively.
