In my experience, customizing is highly beneficial but effective if there's a high volume of hiring. HR is generally not a hugely stacked function and to provide multiple, customized orientation programs may be prove extremely difficult, however if it can be done, it provides the optimal experience for the employee and they conclude the program equipped with adequate and appropriate information to kick off their jobs/careers.

Customisation is the one of the best approach for Orientation programs. It can be done through pre assessment of all new hires even before starting of the program. Aligning & mapping their strengths & competencies with organisational requirements and accordingly design & implement modules to best suit both along with defining expectations with well defined time frame from each new hire.

It's important to prioritize the key take aways for employees such as the company intranet, important benefits topics, where to find IT support; important safety aspects, etc.
