How can you overcome the challenges of using renewable energy for heating?

I think that it's important to focus on the main variables for these processes, to get a correct optimization and automation of the systems

When we say hybrids, the examples are that of heat pump or a multi fuel burner for boilers. This just shouldn’t be done for reliable but as a best practice. The availability of fuel can change for many reasons - geo political being one of them. The hybrid systems also provide a way to be economically sustainable as you can switch fuels based on market demand and pricing. Hybrid systems are a great way until we have a reliable renewable fuel available both economically and sustainably

I believe any serious discussion of "renewable" energy sources must also include "reliable" energy sources like nuclear. Nuclear power is reliable, plentiful, and safe. The problems haunting nuclear waste were solved long ago. Extreme cold is far more deadly than extreme heat. If only bad weather stands between life and death on a purely renewable grid then reliability should be a priority. I would venture that the cost savings for solar and wind systems are frequently inflated due to government subsidies. The environmental impact of the rechargeable battery lifecycle from mining to disposal is also rarely considered. I don't believe hybrid systems are "one way" to overcome unreliable renewables - I believe it is the only humane way.

In many cases, you may not be designing a new heating system, but rather an addition or a retrofit. Your hybrid system would be working alongside an existing system and could be limited in the same way the original system was constrained. You first priority should be to look for operational conflicts. If you are considering a hybrid system, you need to ensure that it is a good match for your current system. No sense in having one or more systems with the same flaws; try to balance strenghts and weaknesses.

Utilising Hybrid systems is a rational strategy, but I reckon that this should not be the ultimate goal and it is proper as a mid-term approach. In long-term Energy production should not be dependent on classic fuels.

Artificial is artificial , natural is natural . Cowdung, solar energy, wind and tidal zero emissions and zero by products that is pollutant to environment. Matter can neither be created nor can be destroyed but can be converted from one form to another. Conversion of above source of energy is easy simple and PURE. No pollutant against oil and gas against plastic against manmade items. Nature knows it's conversion more human trying to play with it's power more it will be dangerous for his own existence course of time will prove and have shown humans it's limitations to mind his limits. But it's his intelligence hiding his ego is not able to accept this reality and TRUTH.

I disagree with this perspective as the costs are more than the benefits We need to do more research snd come up with a cost effective solution

solar photovoltaic, thermal and concentrated, biomass (cogeneration),biogas, geothermal & heat pumps combined with storage technologies are good renewable energy for heating. The scope will change country wise depending on RE potentials. And result benefits depends on type of projects to achieve the desired deployment. All the implementation depends on many conditions inherent to certain countries/regions & which translate into high costs-financial risks. The project proposal should be bankable , if proposal is not well put up it can lead to higher project development costs and risks. Also funding process and financing options themselves should be transparent ,so by considering all above points ,with proper plan we can bring best outcome.

Actually I disagree with this proposal of thermal storage, because the cost of insulation is more than the benefit of storage. Yes, of course, we can research and find a better way to store the excess heat, so that we can utilise it in an effective manner.

Another interesting thermal energy storage approach is by embedding phase change material (PCM) within the envelop of the building. PCM will "absorb" the additional heat during the day as it melts, and will "release" it back when the temperature drops as it solidifies.

Increasing efficiency of energy generation and utilization is way to overcome challenges of renewable energy. Current scenario is 30-40% Utilization of conventional energy based on consumption. And very minimal almost 4-5%of renewable energy utilization. If we improve by 5% -10% in coming decade it also be remarkable.

Smart controls offer a promising way to overcome the challenges of using renewable energy for heating. As the technology continues to develop, smart controls are likely to become more common and more affordable. This will make it easier for people to use renewable energy to heat their homes and reduce their carbon footprint.

Smart controls are also one of the best ways to increase the efficiency of proper use of energy resources. Data-driven feedback and optimization will be significantly more accurate than human checking and optimizing the process.

In my opinion, one more thing we can consider is "efficient insulation and smart building design" to minimize heat loss and optimize energy usage.
