A very wise person once told me that if they had four hours to solve a challenging problem, they would spend three hours developing the right questions. This technique allows for a more holistic approach. It is a forcing function, making the problems solvers think outside of the box, and consider additional relevant factors that can impact desired outcomes. Consequently, this method can create the opportunity to involve outside assistance and input. For follow up, others can participate in question development, and the most important questions that need answers can be addressed once prioritized. Conclusion: Asking the right questions provides for an improved solution platform - and allows for further refinement of the solution.

I have found the STAR method to be very effective in answering and this is done by; S - Situation ( describe a situation) T - Task (what goal is to be achieved ) A - Action (what actions will address /solve the task) R - Result (what is the result /outcome of the actions undertaken) By breaking the problem into sections ,its easier to understand the problem , know your goals (input) and the outcome you seek to gain (output) and then figure what actions need be taken to enable you get the desired results (tools and techniques)

The STAR method is the best, always be short, clear, and precise. Explain the situation, the background of the problem, the task you needed to do, your action/contribution, and the final result (positive of course :) ).
