I'll also add that if you're writing in an online hypertext format, you might sometimes get the luxury of combining these two methods of writing, allowing you to use both jargon and acronyms as well as more example-based and story-based forms of writing. This works by simply including a jargon term in your text that is otherwise directed for a general audience, and then you can turn that piece of text, that word, into a link, the destination of which can be, for example, a Wikipedia article explaining the term. Even better if your company has its own comprehensive knowledgebase and glossary, to which you can direct hyperlinks.
