How can you sustain innovation in your community?

One key aspect I see around innovation is the demystification of the entire process and instilling the belief in stakeholders that they can be part of the innovation process. When a person finds that they are able to contribute towards innovation, it brings a tremendous confidence and excitement to be part of future collaborative innovation processes. Over time, the team starts to believe, that when they come together, innovation is bound to happen!

Ignite your community's innovation engine! Spark open collaboration, diverse ideas welcome. Equip residents with skill-building resources, bridge the gap between academia, business, and government/authorities. Embrace inclusivity; everyone's voice fuels progress. Motivate with incentives, celebrate successes. Offer the infrastructure: funding, mentorship, co-working spaces. Adapt, learn, grow - challenges inspire innovation. Build a resilient community that thrives on creativity, where everyone has a seat at the innovation table.

Além disso, para sustentar a inovação na comunidade, é necessário promover uma cultura colaborativa e inclusiva. Estimular a diversidade de ideias e perspectivas, envolvendo membros diversos que possam contribuir com insights valiosos. Fomentar espaços de cocriação e estabelecer canais de comunicação abertos fortalecem a participação de todos, ampliando a capacidade de inovação e adaptabilidade às demandas da comunidade.

As a consultant and as an employee I have worked with many organizations who say they want to do things a different way — and that is as far as innovation goes. Unfortunately, this has happened to me way more in the nonprofit than the for-profit sector. Two big reasons for that are the fear of failure, or a lack of incentives to innovate. Usually if one is present, so is the other. If you want your people to take big swings, they have to know they won’t be thrown under the bus or lose their job if things go wrong. That isn’t achieved through a single policy. It requires a culture of innovation led by someone who embraces their failures without reconstituting them as successes. In other words, you sustain innovation through real leadership.

So many are afraid of failure or disappointing. If we learn to face our fears and push through them we can find the benefits of growth and confidence.

Create a supportive ecosystem for startups and small businesses, encouraging them to experiment and innovate

Provide an environment whereby individuals can immediately get involved with non-profit boards that align with career goals and mission.

It is making the right connection. Open windows of opportunity. To be a part of this it requires action. It starts with you.

Plan regional and national conferences to celebrate your diverse perspectives and reward those who have actively volunteered to help drive the mission of your organization.

There are a lot of funders who are interested in innovation and many nonprofits can talk to their existing funders to see if this is a good additional ask. Most non profits struggle with innovation if they don’t have the funding to support and sustain it. Think of it as an opportunity for investors!

Ao embarcar em trabalhos interdisciplinares, enfrentamos alguns desafios na comunicação. Um deles está relacionado às barreiras de linguagem, pois cada disciplina possui sua própria terminologia, o que pode tornar a compreensão entre membros de diferentes áreas um tanto complexa. Outro ponto a considerar é a possibilidade de compreensão limitada, já que membros de uma disciplina podem não estar totalmente familiarizados com o contexto e os métodos utilizados por outras áreas, levando a potenciais mal-entendidos. A coordenação também se torna um desafio, pois integrar contribuições de várias disciplinas requer uma comunicação eficaz para evitar falhas na implementação de soluções interdisciplinares.
