How can you use human-machine interface tech for safer, more comfortable driving?

Customers should have the option of a voice command,Touch screen and buttons selection in HMI mode. Customers should decide based on their convenience that which control he wants with touch screens ,voice command and push button. Programs should be available like P1.P2.P3 for easy selection. P1 - All function controls with touch screens,voice command and button P2- Safety function with push button near steering and entertainment with voice command, Some special features with touch screens like wise Considering the safety Touch screen function will be deactivated if the vehicle goes on at a certain speed and activates if speed reduces.

Smart mobility solutions in real life is converted to HMI and autonomous systems in automotive vehicles. Split apps on wide touchscreens and customized apps that are made suitable to work on these screens bring a different perspective and enjoyable view no doubt, providing a feeling like you are using your vehicle as a smartphone. However customer expectations are not always aligned with making every features and functions available to HMI and touchscreens, quick access needed features (e.g.A/C, mirror adjustments, screen heating, volume up/down, etc.) are still better with simple and practical button activations.

Acredito que as IHM são importantes e extremamente atrativas aos clientes, mas acredito que o caminho mais seguro para os clientes e as Fabricantes de automóveis é o de conciliar esta IHM's com os sistemas ADAS já desenvolvidos pela maioria das Fabricantes, nos níveis L2, L2+ e L3, os quais devem vir a ser os mais acessíveis aos clientes e ao mesno tempo rentáveis aos Fabricantes. Estes sistemas ADAS nestes níveis aumentam a segurança do condutor e dos ocupantes, sem a necessidade de chegarmos aos níveis L4 e L5, os quais começam a gerar dúvidas nas Fabricantes quanto a relação beneficio x investimentos a curto e médio prazo.

Humans are all different. What for some people is an excellent feature for others is an annoying or distracting one. Some people like lots of options and for some, a few are just enough. Each person has a different threshold for sensation and perception and too many options can just overwhelm some people. More options are not always better. It depends. We need to learn how to interface in a way that is comfortable and useful otherwise it will just be switched off, ignored or even a danger while driving. Drivers need to learn to interface with HMI and, as any other learning, needs time for assimilation. Things get easier with practice. HMI is a good aid to improve our safety on roads with the range of alerts and warnings available.

Remember most of the information received by the brain is visual. Keep in mind that if any setting needs eye focusing, that attention is sacrified from the road and environment. Tactile information and interior space memory and perception doesn't need that visual effort. The possibility of unplug any auxiliary device (as big screens) many of them expendable for driving, will be appreciated by many drivers who get tired, at times, of the same "for-ever-on" blue-lighted background.

I'd suggest to sit in a car behind the steering wheel before thinking about HMI devices in spite of imagining it from an office... ¿Is it really an improvement to adjust seats settings from a mobile phone app or is it just a funny gadget that could be dangerous?

The car is beyond a transportation appliance. Cars are different things for everyone as far as what they "need" to do. Operator error (anecdotally) causes the most accidents. HMI can mitigate some "accidents" by making the vehicle repeatedly intuitive. That is HVAC settings are in their expected place, speedometer, fuel/battery level,..., all in their expected place. Added tech features like phones, wifi,..., likewise need to be in their expected place. Frequently OEMs are focus on branding their tech features to capture/monetize customer usage data. My recommendation is to make usage "as expected" first, then try to capture the data. If usage locations are not paramount, "expect" to litigate for failure to mitigate. HMI counts!
