Before to structure your content or tell a story, you REALLY need to know your audience 🙌 and design your presentation accordingly. It is the only way that your story can be understood and captivate your audience!

The cardinal rule for any presentation is tailoring content to suit the targeted audience. This involves not only customizing the message but also aligning visual, auditory, and kinesthetic elements to ensure a compelling and resonant story. Effective presentations acknowledge the diverse needs and preferences of stakeholders. I believe this approach fosters stronger connections by demonstrating an understanding of the unique interests and expectations of the audience. Moreover, I recognize that mastering this skill set is an ongoing process. Successful presentation skills require continuous learning and adaptation to different contexts. This growth mindset is essential for consistently improving and refining communication strategies.

In a scenario where I presented to a business team unfamiliar with digital products and analytics, the topic was leveraging GenAI and machine learning for insights. Tailoring the presentation to simplify technical concepts, emphasizing practical applications, and providing relatable examples helped bridge the knowledge gap. This adaptive approach not only clarified complex subjects but also strengthened relationships by fostering a shared understanding and enthusiasm for data-driven strategies.

In my point of view that no one your audience comes as a priority on the top list to grab the interest and build a stronger relationship between you and your stakeholders, knowing your audience interms of their traits their interests dear, nationality vendor, their background, how much do they know from the topic you’re going to present That research before starting building, your presentation will help you to choose the right topic the right way to craft your presentation and to deliver it to your audience.

Structure the presentation to flow based on your story line. Try not to provide to much details and indulge in our own expertise that our audiences get overwhelmed. Providing just enough information to draw your audiences and prepare to answer questions. I typical prepare hidden slides and call them out to address questions from the audiences.

Context context context. What good can a technical solution be without a good use case? If we are unable to provide a good use case for our audience, the technology is not useful. Helping our audiences understand the value and how the solution or the content that we are sharing can benefit the audience will capture their attention and keeping them engaged.

Conveying your ideas to stakeholders is not a simple task. In my experience, it helps your audience understand and support your ideas, partially or fully, by presenting them like you're telling a story. Create your presentation with visuals, pictures, videos, and words that can be easily understood by different audiences. "Storytelling is the most powerful way to put ideas into the world." ~Robert McAfee Brown.

Who doesn't like to hear a story, does they? Beginning a presentation with a story helps everyone to relate with personal experiences. First of all it makes a connection with their emotions, helps to find values in that.They find fun to hear you, enjoy connecting with you and your facts. You can capture the audience with a story. A story can be of big facts or numbers, viral content or even personal experience. All you need is to turn their full focus towards you.

This point cannot be emphasised enough. Peppering the presentation with complex jargon only confuses the audience further (unless that is the intent :)). Strive to use simple and concise terms. If an idea cannot be broken down into it's simplest elements, then it most likely will not gain buy-in easily.

Have you ever sat in a presentation that made you search for words that you can’t really comprehend? Be it a scientific term or an uncommon complex word can turn off the audiences’ attention. It is rare that such choice of words enhanced the presentation, but there are instances when these are used appropriately, create positive impact and awareness. Use simple easy to understand words to explain our presentation is a safer approach unless you explain the words when presenting,

Using clear and concise language is a good marker for your own understanding about a subject. If you can explain it simply, in terms your audience understands, this shows that you have a full grasp of the concepts yourself. It also means that your audience will thank you afterwards.

Conhecer o público alvo é fundamental para direcionar qual tipo de estrutura é linguagem serão utilizadas na apresentação. Há pessoas que ficam fascinadas e até mesmo impressionadas com apresentações carregadas de conhecimento e detalhes técnicos/específicos. No entanto, outros tipos de ouvintes podem focar a atenção em resultados alcançados, outros em ganhos financeiros, outros em questões de planejamento e por aí vai. No entanto, é sempre recomendável o uso do pragmatismo e da simplicidade nos dizeres. A apresentação deve ser clara, o público precisa entender facilmente todos os pontos principais e ainda ter tempo para dúvidas e questionamentos da apresentação para gerar um ambiente de trocas, aprendizados e cooperação.

Leaders are busy. So when an opportunity to present to them arises, it’s imperative that the message you are trying to convey is simple and clear. I think that we need to trust that they are in the positions they are in because they are smart and technically sound, so best to give them the benefit of doubt and skip technical language and get right to the point. I found that this approach was well accepted and appreciated with my own leadership. Plus, meetings are shorter, a benefit for all parties. 🎉

Maybe a 7th point here... i would test the presentation with different people / audiences before the D day. Communication is a real complex topic. We tend to think things are clear when they are clear to us. But that's not always the case. A message that is not understood by the audience means a boring presentation and the only 'benefit' you will get out of that situation is more free time because they won't ask you to present again. Good luck, especially to all the fellows dealing with complex tech topics that need to be understood by different audiences to raise money or get any kind of investment.

Before you give your presentation, spend time anticipating questions that might occur and prepare answers for them. This will help you to engage with your audience in a meaningful way, and will give your audience a favorable impression about your preparedness and subject knowledge.

In my experience, many people don’t enjoy speaking in front of a group. Three things to consider: • Practice. Use trusted friends to give you an honest assessment. If possible, practice at the location where you will be giving your presentation. This will remove an element of the unknown, and will help you focus on your audience. • Consider your hand gestures. Too few makes the speaker look stiff and uncomfortable. Too many might be distracting to your audience. • Use notecards, rather than a manuscript. Manuscripts tend to keep the speakers’ eyes on the paper, rather than the audience. Note cards help draw the speaker to the audience. This will help establish good eye contact. This builds trust in your audience.
