When aligning career objectives with personal values, I've found it crucial to reflect on what truly resonates with you. For instance, if environmental sustainability is a core value, seek out roles within companies committed to eco-friendly practices. I remember one job search where I turned down a lucrative offer because the company's values didn't align with my own. It wasn't easy, but staying true to my principles ultimately led me to my role at Westwing where I can make a meaningful impact in line with my values. Regular self-assessment and honesty about what matters most can guide you in pursuing career paths that feel authentic and fulfilling.

Know your personal values first, as you take them with you wherever you go. Your personal values represent your non-negotiable milestones - the rules in life you want to live by (like: loyalty, respect, honesty, sustainability). Then aligning your career goals is easy - ask yourself "is this goal in lime with my values?" if yes, pursue the goal. If not, focus on another goal that allows you to stay true to yourself.

We all grow up with certain values and do not want to compromise on those so it always becomes ver important to identify them. Then come to understanding your career aspirations and your pathway to achieving them. Then see how well are your values balancing with your career aspirations and set the goals accordingly. Be true to yourself, be meaningful and assess your actions based on your values and get going.

If you value being on an awesome team and being a valuable contributor, don't set a goal to move up the corporate ladder as fast as possible. Others might want to expand their influence, and moving up is a crucial part of that. Set goals that align with who you are and what you want, and don't compare them to other people's goals.

My point of view: we are good enough, AND we can do better!!! This view depends on our self-esteem, and very often on the feedback from your boss. A good boss will tell you that you are good and that you can do even better!! Fully agree with you: it is our attitude which makes the difference. This is because how a company acts is more revealing than what it says. So while management can list the values they believe in and what they stand for, it’s the actions that they reward which are more telling. So when deciding which company to work for, reflect on your own personal values and see how they stack up to the actions that management reward.

There is a fine line between personal values and limiting beliefs which I have seen a lot people get confused with. The non-negotiable values helps us stick to the principles we follow at the same time some limiting beliefs makes us feel we can not negotiate on certain areas. It can even restrict our growth and in-depth understanding of a particular field of work. In my experience our upbringing has a lot of do with our principles as well as limiting beliefs and when we are starting our career it's important to think wisely and understand both sides of the table before taking any decision.

Beyond personal values, you can also align your career to things like your personality type, your character strengths or gaps, your inherent skills and abilities. This is a fun space to play in for some people, because it can completely reframe the way we look at our work. When work aligns to a purpose, big or small, it can help us with drive, motivation, and resilience.

Set aside time to reflect on your career regularly. Think back on your best achievements, your most important learning moments and also, brainstorm on how you can contribute more. Ideas will flow to you abundantly, if your career and personal goals are aligned. If you get stuck in doing this exercise, that's a clear sign that you must consider changes.
